The birthday of Charles F.
Kettering – the inventor of electro self-starter.
1876. On this very day the
American engineer and the long-time director of research for General Motors
Corp. (GM), Charles Franklin Kettering, was born in Loudonville, Ohio. He
managed to get 140 patents during his lifetime but, probably, the most
considerable was his patent for the electric self-starter for automobiles which
he obtained in 1915.
