The Mercedes-Benz company has made a decision to
stop production of the ‘Maybach’ brand in 2013 replacing it by S600 Pullman.
So we can say that the German automaker is
“killing off” the Maybach line. It appeared to be a pretty expected piece of
news. We can tell that the brand was ‘resurrected’ in 2002, but didn’t manage
to meet expectations about the sales of its two key models - the Maybach ‘57’
and ‘62’. The further “strengthening” of the brand destiny came out failing of
a deal with Aston Martin Company which was to give a knee in the future
development of Maybachs.
As far as we know they plan to continue selling
both Maybach modifications until the end of 2013. After that the
fifth-generation S-Class will hit the market. There should appear three renewed
versions of the S-Class then. This will include an all-new, top model of ‘S600’
that can ‘resuscitate’ the nickname “Pullman”, may become a better competitor
to Bentley and Rolls-Royce and make a good offer to those bent
for this kind of vehicles.
