McLaren MP4-12C Spider 2013 was presented

The McLaren MP4-12C spider version was presented by the British sports car producer. It can be already ordered via the 38 McLaren retail dealers in 22 countries all over the world, and its retractable hard top (RHT) is the only thing that distinguishes this modification from the coupe.

The McLaren Automotive Managing Director, Antony Sheriff told that “While the 12C is the technological essence of a race car, the 12C Spider incorporates an additional dimension. 12C Spider owners will love the opportunity to lower the roof and hear the unhindered howl of a V8 twin turbo engine at full throttle….”

The customer who decides to purchase the McLaren MP4-12C will discover the same 231, 9 cu in (3, 8-liter) twin-turbo 625 h/p (616 bhp) V8 engine (the same as the coupe has) which gives all the power to its rear wheels through a 7-gear dual-clutch SSG transmission.

This version will take 0, 1 seconds more than the coupe to boost from 0 up to 100 mph cause of its increased friction factor, and it means that the vehicle will need 6, 1 seconds instead of 6, 0. The top speed has got influenced too and now it is now 204 mph instead of 207 mph.

As the McLaren company says that the space under the tonneau may be exploited as an extra room for luggage when the roof is up and this gives you (52 liters) worth of storage.

Speaking about the safety, the car is equipped with a passive Roll Over Protection System and it means that the support area of seats embodies a structure made of steel constructed specially for absorption of impact energy.
